3-year guarantee Anyone can roll out turf. Making it take, and stay green through a wet Wicklow winter and a dry July, is about what happens before the turf arrives. Most failed lawns were laid straight onto poor, compacted, or stony ground that was never prepared.
We strip back, grade to a level, and improve the soil first. Wicklow ground is often acidic and heavy, so we work in lime and grit where it is needed to open it up and get the pH right. Then we lay premium roll turf from Irish growers, or sow a seeded lawn for larger areas, and hand you simple care instructions so it establishes well.

Lawn Installation: your questions answered
How much does it cost to lay a new lawn in Wicklow?
Roll turf supplied and laid starts at €18/m², including soil preparation. A typical 100m² back lawn comes in between €1,800 and €2,500, depending on how much the ground needs improving. Seeded lawns cost less per square metre but take a season to establish.
Is roll turf or seed better?
Roll turf gives you an instant, usable lawn and suppresses weeds from day one, which suits most family gardens. Seed is cheaper for large areas and lets you choose a specific grass mix, but it needs more time, watering, and patience. We advise on which suits your garden and budget.
When is the best time to lay a lawn in Ireland?
Turf can be laid almost year round in the Irish climate, apart from hard frost or drought, with spring and autumn the ideal windows. Seeding is best in spring or early autumn when the soil is warm and damp. Teagasc has good guidance on lawn establishment.
Why do new lawns fail?
Almost always poor preparation: turf laid on compacted, stony, or unimproved soil that the roots cannot get into. Drainage is the other culprit in Wicklow's heavy ground. We deal with both before the turf arrives, which is why our lawns knit in and stay.
How soon can I walk on a new lawn?
Keep off fresh turf for about two to three weeks while it roots, then it is fine for normal use. A seeded lawn needs longer, usually six to eight weeks before its first light cut. We give you a simple schedule so you know exactly when.
