3-year guarantee Planting is where a garden comes alive, and where a lot of money gets wasted. Plants chosen for the wrong soil, or planted badly and left to fend for themselves, simply die. We choose species that suit your ground and aspect, plant them properly, and stand over them with a 3-year guarantee.
Séan trained in landscape horticulture with Teagasc, and the planting reflects it. For Wicklow's acidic, often boggy soil, native species like hawthorn, blackthorn, rowan, hazel, and holly establish far better than fashionable imports. We use them for hedgerows that feed wildlife and screen a garden, alongside ornamental borders and specimen trees where you want a focal point.

Planting & Hedging: your questions answered
How much does hedging cost to plant?
Native hedging starts at €8 per linear metre supplied and planted, depending on the species and the size of the plants. Bare-root whips are the most economical and go in over winter, while potted plants can be planted most of the year. We quote per metre after seeing the ground.
What is the best hedging for Wicklow?
Native species suit Wicklow's acidic, damp soil best: hawthorn and blackthorn for a tough stock-proof boundary, beech for a formal hedge that holds its leaf, and holly or hazel for mixed native hedgerows. They establish more reliably than imported evergreens and support local wildlife.
What does the 3-year plant guarantee cover?
If a tree, shrub, or hedging plant we supplied and planted dies within three years through no fault of care, we replace it. That is well beyond the industry norm, and we can offer it because we choose the right plants for the soil and plant them properly in the first place.
When is the best time to plant hedging?
Bare-root hedging is planted from November to March while dormant, which is the cheapest and most successful way. Potted and root-balled plants can go in for most of the year apart from drought or hard frost. We plan planting around the season for the best take.
Can you plant a low-maintenance garden?
Yes. We design and plant borders that look full and intentional but need little upkeep, using robust shrubs, ground cover that suppresses weeds, and mulch. It is popular with busy families and landlords who want a garden that looks cared for without constant work.
