3-year guarantee Decking gets a bad name in Ireland, and usually for one reason: cheap softwood deck boards that go green, get slippery, and rot within five to eight years in our wet climate. Built right, with the right material, a deck is a brilliant way to get a level, usable space out of a sloping or awkward garden.
We build mainly in composite, brands like Trex, Cedral, and Millboard, because it shrugs off Irish rain, does not rot, and needs almost no upkeep. Where a client wants the real-timber look, we use proper hardwood. Either way it sits on a treated, ventilated subframe built to last, with seating, planters, and lighting designed in rather than bolted on.
TL;DR
We build composite and hardwood decking designed for the Irish climate, with integrated seating, planters, and lighting where you want them. Composite starts at €200/m² supplied and installed, and a typical 5m by 4m deck runs roughly €4,000 to €5,500. We steer most clients to composite, because softwood rots.

Decking: your questions answered
How much does decking cost in Ireland?
Composite decking starts at €200/m² supplied and installed. A typical 5m by 4m deck works out around €4,000 to €5,500, depending on the board, the height off the ground, and any built-in seating or steps. Hardwood is priced per project. We quote a fixed price after a site visit.
Is composite decking better than wood in Ireland?
For the Irish climate, almost always yes. Composite does not rot, does not need oiling or staining, resists algae, and lasts decades with a wash. Softwood timber decking looks cheaper up front but goes slippery and rots within five to eight years in our rainfall. We recommend composite for most gardens.
Does composite decking get slippery?
Quality composite has a textured, grippy surface that handles Irish rain far better than smooth softwood, which grows the algae that makes old decks lethal. No decking is completely slip-proof when wet, but good composite, kept clean, is a different world from a green timber deck.
How long does composite decking last?
A well-built composite deck lasts 25 years or more, and most boards carry a manufacturer guarantee of 20 to 25 years. The subframe matters just as much as the boards, which is why we build on a treated, ventilated frame rather than cutting corners underneath.
Can you build a deck on a sloping garden?
Yes, and it is one of the best uses for decking. A raised deck turns a slope or an awkward level change into a flat, usable space without the cost of major groundworks. We design the structure and steps to suit the fall and make the most of the view.
